NoticeChanges to the Japanese Language Education Curriculum
Japanese Language School Affiliated with Tokyo International University has revised its Japanese language education programs with the aim of enhancing educational content and curriculum.
Accordingly, we are pleased to announce that we will transition to the new programs starting with the October 2026 enrollment period.
1. Names of the Old and New Programs
Until now, our school has offered the following programs.
• Japanese Language Education Course A (Full-time)
• Japanese Language Education Course B (Part-time)
• Preparatory Education Course (Full-time)
As part of this curriculum reorganization, we will restructure these programs and establish the following new courses:
• Academic Japanese Course for Higher Education
• Preparatory Education Course
Under the new curriculum, all courses will be full-time, and we will strive to unify and enhance the curriculum content and instructional framework.
2. Transition Schedule and Admissions
• Admissions for the April 2026 term will be conducted under the old curriculum.
• We will transition to the new curriculum starting with the October 2026 admissions.
• Please note that the July term admissions previously offered will no longer be available starting in the 2026 academic year.
3. Curriculum Philosophy of the New Program
The new program ensures a sufficient number of class hours compared to the previous half-day program, while adjusting the total hours compared to the previous full-day program to create a curriculum structure that makes it easier to balance part-time work with studies.
In addition to ensuring an appropriate number of study hours, the program makes elective courses specialized for further education and employment mandatory, providing an education that leads to rapid improvement in Japanese language proficiency and the achievement of post-graduation goals such as further education and employment.
4. Japanese Language Proficiency Goals and Program Duration
In the new curriculum, the target Japanese language proficiency level upon graduation is set at “CEFR B2 (equivalent to JLPT N2) or higher.” To achieve this goal, the program duration is determined based on the student’s Japanese proficiency at the time of admission. Students may choose from the following program durations based on their current Japanese level:
• 1 year
• 1 year and 6 months
• 2 years
We expect students to select the appropriate study period based on their Japanese proficiency and their plans for further education or employment.
We will continue to enhance our educational programs and support each student in achieving their goals.
