This course is designed for international students aiming to advance to higher education institutions in Japan or pursue employment within Japan.

Course Overview

Learning Achievement Levels from Admission to Graduation

Based on each student's Japanese proficiency at the time of enrollment, the program guides students step-by-step from A1 (equivalent to JLPT N5) through A2, B1, and B2.
From beginner to upper-intermediate levels, clear learning objectives are set for each stage, with comprehensive development of vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, listening comprehension, and conversation skills.
Upon completion, students will have acquired practical Japanese language proficiency equivalent to JLPT N2, equipping them with the skills needed for higher education or future career advancement.

*This is an estimate of the time required to reach the target level from the starting level.

※Students who demonstrate Japanese proficiency above the designated entry level at the time of enrollment will aim to achieve C1 level.

Course Selection Guide for University Advancement (for November Entrance Exams)

Understanding the Japanese Entrance Examination System

• In Japan, university entrance examinations are often held around November of the year before enrollment.
• Japanese higher education institutions (universities, vocational schools, etc.) generally require international students to have Japanese language proficiency equivalent to JLPT N2 or higher for admission.
• Many universities in Japan require international students to take the EJU (Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students) and achieve scores above the standards set by each university.
• When considering university admission, the study period at a Japanese language school does not directly equal the actual preparation period for university advancement. In reality, students need to improve their Japanese proficiency within a shorter period of time.

Course Selection

Japanese Education Course (1-Year Program)

• A shortest-path program for university advancement, saving both time and tuition costs through a shorter period of study at a Japanese language school.
• To pass the JLPT N2 level in July, shortly after enrollment, and prepare for university admission in the following academic year, students need to have a strong foundation in Japanese and be close to the N2 level when entering a Japanese language school.

Japanese Education Course (1-Year-and-6-Month Program / 2-Year Program)

• When selecting a course, please consider the study period of each course above and determine how much time you need to improve your Japanese proficiency to achieve JLPT N2 level.

Classes and Curriculum

Comprehensive Japanese

By covering a wide range of topics from daily life to social issues, students engage in various language activities, including listening, reading, speaking (interaction and presentation), and writing, to comprehensively improve their Japanese proficiency.

Students develop practical Japanese skills that are useful for daily life in Japanese society and learn with the goal of communicating and interacting with people from diverse backgrounds.

Kanji
Vocabulary

Students learn the meanings of kanji necessary for daily life in Japan and the vocabulary that uses those kanji.

For students whose native languages use kanji, the focus is placed on readings and multiple meanings while developing awareness of the differences between Japanese kanji usage and that of their native languages. For students whose native languages do not use kanji, writing kanji is also emphasized to deepen their understanding.

Reading

Through a wide range of topics and various types of reading materials, students learn reading strategies and expressions while developing their reading skills. At the same time, they deepen their understanding of social concepts, perspectives, and ways of thinking.

Students also practice expressing their own opinions and ideas based on what they have read.

Composition

Students practice various writing skills, including writing conventions, style, organization and paragraph structure, sentence connections, how to introduce themes and definitions, how to explain facts, issues, and reasons, and how to use quotations. They then write various types of texts, such as explanatory essays, essays, and opinion pieces.

As follow-up activities, students may share their work by reading each other’s writing in pairs or presenting their ideas in front of the class.

Home Room

Students develop study plans for Japanese learning and plans for university entrance examinations or job hunting while considering their purpose for studying abroad and future goals. They prepare for implementing their plans and reflect on their progress.

Students also develop the skills and mindset needed to become independent learners so that they can continue studying even after returning to their home countries.

About Elective Courses (Exam Preparation Courses)

Elective courses are compulsory electives in Japanese Education Course A and optional in Japanese Education Course B.

For students enrolled Japanese Education Course who plan to pursue higher education or find employment in Japan after graduating from a Japanese language school, we recommend taking elective courses (exam preparation courses) tailored to your future goals.
By taking courses that align with your goals, you can effectively improve your Japanese language skills and prepare for exams.

EJU (Japanese) Preparation ※EJU: Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students

For the Writing section, students learn writing techniques and practice composing essays on given topics within a set time limit. For the Listening/Reading and Reading sections, students work through past exam questions to become familiar with the question formats and aim to achieve their target scores.

JLPT Preparation
※JLPT: Japanese Language Proficiency Test

Students aim to achieve their target scores by understanding grammar and vocabulary expressions at each level and becoming familiar with question formats through repeated practice exercises.

BJT Preparation ※BJT: BJT Business Japanese Proficiency Test

Students learn about the job-hunting process in Japan, including self-analysis, company research, and how to write resumes. Through practice in using honorific expressions, writing business emails, and studying business case scenarios, students prepare for working in Japan while also developing skills for the BJT.

■Important Notes Regarding Course Enrollment

・For each term, please select one exam preparation course that aligns with your individual goals. Your homeroom teacher will provide explanations and guidance at the appropriate time regarding course selection, so please consult with your homeroom teacher thoroughly before the term begins to make your decision.
・BJT preparation classes are offered only from July through December.
・To enroll in EJU or BJT preparation courses, you must have Japanese language proficiency at the B1 level (equivalent to JLPT N2) or higher. If you do not meet the required proficiency level, you will be required to take the JLPT preparation course. Please note that Japanese language proficiency is determined by a comprehensive assessment of the five skills: “listening, reading, speaking (conversation), speaking (presentation), and writing.”
・Tuition for elective courses must be paid together with the tuition for each semester.

Core Subjects

Core subjects required for university admission in Japan (English, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science) are covered.
Core subjects are available as optional add-ons for EJU preparation. Tuition is 15,000 yen per subject (once/week); General Studies: 30,000 yen (twice/week). Materials fee separate.
